PREFIXSUFFIX – Add Text Before or After Existing Text in ACTCAD

The PREFIXSUFFIX command in ACTCAD automatically adds a specified prefix (before) or suffix (after) to selected Text, MTEXT, Dimensions, or Attribute values. This is useful for numbering sequences, unit annotations, and labeling where many objects need consistent text formatting without manual edits.

Steps to Use PREFIXSUFFIX in ACTCAD:

  1. Step 1 : Launch the PREFIXSUFFIX Command

Type PREFIXSUFFIX in the command bar and press Enter.

  2. PREFIXSUFFIX
  3. Step 2 : Select Objects to Modify

Click to select the Text, MTEXT, Dimensions, or Attributes you want to update. Press Enter after selecting all required objects.

  4. PREFIXSUFFIX
  5. Step 3 : Specify Prefix and/or Suffix
    • Enter Prefix: Type the text to appear before the existing value (or press Enter to skip).
    • Enter Suffix: Type the text to appear after the existing value (or press Enter to skip).

Notes

  • Leave either prompt blank to apply only a prefix or only a suffix.
  • Selections can include mixed object types (Text, MTEXT, Dimensions, Attributes).
  • Use UNDO (Ctrl+Z) to revert if the result isn’t as expected.

Conclusion

The PREFIXSUFFIX command provides a fast, consistent way to bulk-edit labels by appending standard prefixes or suffixes. It improves drawing uniformity, saves editing time, and reduces errors in annotations, part numbers, and dimension labeling.
