MERGEHATCH in ACTCAD

The MERGEHATCH command is used to combine two or more separate hatch objects into a single hatch entity. This is useful when you have multiple hatch areas with the same pattern, scale, and angle and want to unify them for easier editing and consistent appearance.

Step-wise Procedure:

  1. Step 1 — Start the Command

Type MERGEHATCH in the command line and press Enter.

  2. MERGEHATCH
  3. Step 2 — Select a Single Source Hatch

Click on one hatch entity that will act as the source hatch. The source defines the pattern, scale, angle, and properties to be adopted by the merged result.

  4. MERGEHATCH
  5. Step 3 — Select Hatch Entities to Merge

Choose the other hatch entities you want to merge into the source hatch. Use click or window selection as needed. Press Enter to confirm the selection.

  6. MERGEHATCH
  7. Step 4 — Merge Completion

After confirming, the selected hatch entities are unified with the source hatch. They adopt the source hatch's pattern, scale, angle, and other applicable properties for a consistent appearance.

Notes:

  • Only hatch entities with compatible geometry and patterns merge cleanly — if patterns or orientations differ significantly, results may vary.
  • After merging, the unified hatch is easier to edit and manage as a single object.
  • Use UNDO (Ctrl+Z) if the merge does not produce the desired outcome.

Conclusion

The MERGEHATCH command in ACTCAD streamlines combining multiple hatch entities into one uniform hatch. It improves drawing consistency, reduces redundancy, and simplifies future modifications — especially helpful when maintaining tidy and organized designs.
